Motion Tracing Project

Adobe After Effects

I took a class on Adobe After Effects and one of the projects I had to do was motion trace an existing video that was no more than 15 seconds long and have the end result in 24 fps. I decided to trace 8 seconds from a scene in a game titled Fire Emblem Fates. This was easily the most time consuming project I ever created for the class as there was a lot of detail to recreate, including the water effects. Additionally, the original video was in 30 fps and when converting it down to 24 fps, my 8 second clip became an 11 second clip, resulting in a larger work load for me.

Scene Recreation - The Road to Eldorado

MMD

When I was in middle school, I learned of a free 3D animation program known as MikuMikuDance. The program was easy to use and there is a dedicated community that constantly creates new assets and models for the animators to use; they have even managed to convert game models from various games into models to be used in the program. I downloaded the program myself and learned how to animate 3D models from watching tutorial videos and just using the program in general.
For this animation, I attempted to recreate a scene from the movie The Road to El Dorado using the Red and Blue models from Pokemon Sun and Moon. I aimed to have realilistic movements and expresstions in spite of the eye expressions being purely texture based.

Diagram Project

Adobe After Effects

A project I was assigned in my After Effects class required us to produce a 15 second video featuring a 3D diagram that included not only camera movement but also animated images within it. I decided to recreate a moment from Little Red Riding Hood, specifically when the wolf first sees Red, using a music box arrangement of the song Once Upon a December. The grass, trees, bushes, background, and wold I found on the internet using the "labeled for reuse" filter. I created the image of Red in Photoshop and animated the file's layers to create a walking animation for her.
Overall, this was a fun project to do as I not only enjoy figuring out how to make the walking animation work but also enjoyed seeing the project turn out well.

Animated Storyboard - Macavity

Photoshp/Adobe Premiere

In my Multimedia Capstone class, my teacher assigned us to create a personal project of whatever we wanted so long as it was multimedia focused. Wanting to improve my scene composition and visual storytelling skills, I decided to do an animated storyboard. One design descision I quickly made for the project was to use audio from a song as opposed to an existing scene; I wanted to create an original scene based on what goes on in the song. In honor of my favorite musicals, I went with the song Macavity from Cats. As the song decribes what kind of cat Macavity is and how vile of a criminal he is, the story I went with was a police officer asking details on Macavity from a femme fatale and a bar keep and the scene ending with the officer seeing Macavity in person.
Overall I am pleased with how the video came out and how certain sequences turned out.

Motion Graphic Project

Adobe After Effects

My graphic design class was assigned to create a motion graphic for my college's sports stadium in Adobe After Effects that was 10 seconds long. We had to use stock photos of my college's stadium in place of actual sports game footage as well as feature our college team's name. This was an interesting project for me to do as it allowed me to practice with creating and editing shapes within the After Effects program, especially the circle shapes. The editing I did with the circles was one that I always wanted to learn and practice with as I have seen similar editing in music videos.

Short Photo Album Video Project

Adobe Premiere

One computer science class I took focused on exploring various programs, coding languages, and coding issues that are present in the technological world today. At the end of the semester, our final project was to create a video using the video, audio, and recording software that we chose to present and cover; in my case, I had to use Adobe Premiere to edit the video together. I wanted to show off my skills in Premiere and so I decided to create a video showcasing photos that I took. I primarilly used the grayscale filter and played around with the masking tool, bringing in color at specific points in the music. I also played around with the zoom and movement animations with the photos to make each one dynamic.

IEEE Video - Jobs of the Future

Adobe Premiere

In high school, I created a video for a nonprofit group called the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or IEEE for short. For the video, I interviewed engineers and members of IEEE and edited the interviews so that the topics discussed in the video flow naturally into each other. I also utilized various technological images and clips in the video to help illustrate the points discussed and enhance the viewing experience. This project also allowed me to become more familiar with Adobe Premiere and come to understand how certain effects, namely the keying effects, work in premiere. I then uploaded the video to YouTube under the username Sonya Joyful.
